Whale Shark Day

Truck packed to the hilt.

The beach while we waited for the ferry.  Notice the trash.  Yeah, they were almost all like that.

View from the ferry.

More views.

Getting off the ferry.

This was the beach while we waited for the final bus to the whale sharks.  This is where I put on sunscreen.  It was very hot and sunny.  It was like an oven.  If you look in the far distance near the shore, you can see the boats with tourists looking at the whale sharks.

Loading the ferry for the way back.

Lack of leg room.

On the fourth day we went to see whale sharks.  They feed them so they are easy to see.  The ones we saw were clearly juveniles as they were big but not huge.  It took a while to get there.  The bus ride from the resort was about an hour, then a long ferry ride to the island, then another short shuttle/ bus to the location of the whale sharks.  We waited on the shore until a boat was ready to take us out.  There were lots of small boats with people out there and they would tell you the boat number before you left so that you could find your way back to your boat.  When you got out there, you jumped in and swam with the whale sharks.  There was a current so bringing snorkeling gear was a good idea.  There were a fair number of people who didn't have it and they had to cling to the sides of the boat instead of actually getting out and swimming.

Last of Day 3

Break time

Picking up divers

More of Day 3

Break time on the boat

The island we went to for diving.

Sea snakes were a thing.  There are lots of pics of them.  They are like regular snakes except they can breathe underwater and fly at your face.

Fish eating coral.  They do that a lot.

Clams in the coral

Yellow fish

Sea snake that came pretty much right at us

A gigantic school of fish that swam around me

Another sea snake

Boat from the water
This was probably the best day of diving.  Unfortunately the water is still very polluted as I'm sure you can tell by the pictures.  It's not very clear.  I'm anxious to review the Palau footage and see if the pictures are more crisp.

Day

Up close with coral

Carina looking at something

Underwater village

Beyond this coral there was a cliff.  We went down it.  Diving is like flying sometimes.

Underwater selfie

A whole plethra of blue fish swam past me.

Sometimes when you look up you see fish.  The red glare is due to the red lens on the gopro.  It works best pointed down, not up.

Suburbs.

This looks like something from Dr. Seuss.  But it's not.  It's a worm (or two).

My favorite blue puffer fish that looks like an angry bird.  I love him.

I named him Henry.
This is still the Philippines.  I know I went to Palau recently, but it takes a long time to get pics from the gopro videos.  Day 3 of diving was Apo Island.  It was awesome.  Unfortunately my gopro kept breaking and I couldn't figure out how to fix it underwater.  So all the pics of the cliff I mentioned above are not here.  It was an awesome cliff, though.

Random post

Hike to Tarzan Falls.  The day after the really long hike, my friends wanted to hike to Tarzan falls.  They didn't find the falls, but we did hike through these fields.

This is the river, but we were too far downstream for the waterfall.

They brought their dogs.  The blue collar dog is Bandit, the puppy.  He's not so little anymore.  And he's even bigger now.  The other dog is Conrad.  He looks almost identical to bandit, but fatter and a light tan instead of brown.

This is the Doc's car.  For whatever reason, I wanted a photo.

Some time later, we did a night dive.  I arrived a little early and watched the sunset on the beach.

There were other people who decided to do a night dive, as well.

This was a chicken in my yard with 13(!) babies.

Donald Trump Chia Head.  It's a little past it's prime.
These are other random photos I had on my phone.
